Drains & sewer

Clogs cleared, causes explained.

Slow drains, backups and main-line trouble, cleared with the right tool and checked on camera when it matters.

The problem

What your drains are telling you.

Where the problem shows up says a lot about where it is.

01 One slow sink or tub
Usually a local clog: hair, soap or food build-up close to that drain.
02 Gurgling sounds
Air being pushed through a partly blocked line, or a venting problem.
03 Several drains backing up at once
Points to the main sewer line rather than one fixture. Worth calling sooner.
04 Sewage smell or water in the lowest drain
A main-line blockage or a damaged line. Stop running water and call.

What we do

Clearing a drain, properly.

  1. Find which line it is

One fixture or the whole house? A few questions and a quick test tell us where to start.

  2. Clear it with the right tool

The right size of cable or auger for the pipe, so we clear the blockage without damaging the line.

  3. Show you what caused it

Grease, roots, a sag in the line or just bad luck. Knowing why makes it less likely to come back.

  4. Check it runs freely

We run water through every affected drain with you before we pack up.

Sewer camera inspection

See inside the line before anyone digs.

A small waterproof camera goes down the line and shows us, and you, what’s really going on. You watch the screen with us and keep the recording.

Roots
Tree roots find their way into joints, common on streets lined with big oaks and pines.
Sags or “bellies”
Low spots where water and waste settle, causing repeat clogs.
Cracks and offsets
Breaks or joints that have shifted out of line.
Build-up
Grease and scale narrowing the pipe over time.

Questions

Drains & sewer FAQ

Should I use a chemical drain cleaner first?

We’d rather you didn’t. They’re harsh on some older pipes and often only clear part of the blockage. If a plunger doesn’t help, call us.

When do I need a sewer camera inspection?

When clogs keep coming back, when several drains back up at once, before buying an older home, or after roots have been a problem. It shows the inside of the line before anyone digs.

Do I get to see the camera footage?

Yes. You watch the screen with us, and you keep the recording.

What shouldn’t go down the drain?

Cooking grease, coffee grounds, wipes (even “flushable” ones), and fibrous food scraps in the disposal. They’re behind most of the clogs we clear.

Is a backed-up sewer line an emergency?

If sewage is coming up into the house, yes. Stop running water and call us any time, day or night.

Ready when you are

Drain acting up? Let’s take a look.

Book a visit, or call if water or sewage is coming back up. We’ll explain the cause before we clear it.
